When: Friday, Mar 24, 2017, 5:00pm - 9:00pm

The Texas Gulf Coast Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO announces its Second Annual Working Families Awards Dinner Friday, March 24th, 5 to 9 pm, at Brady's Landing.

This year our goal is to raise $100,000. Proceeds from the event will go to support our work to elect pro-working people candidates in our region, win local and state legislative battles in conjunction with our allies, provide support to our locals’ organizing and contract fights, develop an improved communications infrastructure, and build our affiliates’ capacity by training and developing a larger layer of union activists.

At this year’s Awards Dinner we will posthumously recognize the late E. Dale Wortham for his many contributions to the labor movement as President of the Harris County AFL-CIO and Vice-President of IBEW Local 716.

We have also invited State Senator Sylvia Garcia,  City of Houston City Council Member Robert Gallegos and Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee to accept awards from us for their steadfast defense of working families’ rights.

Our featured speaker will be author, radio commentator, and former Texas Agriculture Commissioner Jim Hightower.

We know that we have only just begun and have much work to do together.  We hope you will join us at our second annual dinner to celebrate our work in 2016 and energize us for our work in 2017.
